Product Care

Our Metals & Care Instructions at Elevate By Sar.

Taking care of your sterling silver and stainless steel jewellery is key to preserving their shine, durability, and overall appearance over time. Here are some tips for both types of jewellery:

Stainless Steel Jewellery Care

Stainless steel is durable, resistant to tarnishing, and generally easy to maintain, but it still requires proper care to keep its gleaming look:

  1. Keep It Clean: Clean stainless steel jewellery with mild soap and warm water. Use a soft cloth or a microfiber towel to gently buff it dry. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasives that can damage the surface or dull its shine.
  2. Avoid Impact: Although stainless steel is highly resistant to scratches and dents, it’s still a good idea to avoid exposing your jewellery to rough surfaces or heavy impacts. Take off your jewellery when doing activities like exercising or working with tools.
  3. Store Carefully: Store your stainless steel jewellery in a soft cloth or pouch to avoid scratches from contact with other pieces. While stainless steel doesn't tarnish like silver, it's still best to store it separately from other metals or jewellery.
  4. Remove Before Harsh Conditions: Like sterling silver, it’s recommended to remove stainless steel jewellery before swimming in chlorinated water or using strong chemicals. This can prevent any damage to the polished finish.
  5. Polish Lightly: Stainless steel does not require much maintenance, but if you notice it losing some of its luster, a gentle polish with a non-abrasive cloth can bring back its shine.

 Sterling Silver Jewellery Care

Sterling silver is a beautiful, precious metal, 925 Sterling Silver is a lightweight metal made of 92.5% pure silver. It’s highly durable and designed for everyday wear. To keep your sterling silver jewellery in its best condition:

  1. Store Properly: Always store sterling silver jewellery in a dry, cool place, preferably in a tarnish-resistant cloth or pouch.
  2. Avoid Exposure to Chemicals: Chemicals like perfumes, lotions, cleaning agents, and chlorinated water can cause tarnishing or damage the finish. Remove your sterling silver pieces before applying these substances.
  3. Clean Regularly: To maintain its shine, clean sterling silver with a soft cloth to remove dirt and oils. For tarnish, you can use a silver polish cloth or a specially formulated silver cleaner. Gently rub the tarnish off, avoiding harsh abrasives that could scratch the surface.
  4. Wear Often: Ironically, wearing your sterling silver jewellery regularly can help reduce tarnishing, as natural oils from your skin can keep it shiny. However, avoid wearing it in harsh environments, such as swimming pools or while cleaning.
  5. Polish Gently: Over-polishing or using abrasive materials can cause scratches on sterling silver. Stick to polishing cloths made specifically for silver to avoid damaging the surface.
